Hailing from Bristol, England, the Brilliant Corners were formed in 1984 by David Woodward (vocals, guitars), Chris Galvin (bass), and Bob Morris (drums). After releasing a few singles with a somewhat swampabilly sound, the band quickly adopted the jangley, catchy pop sound that was the hallmark of its best work. Joy Ride was the follow-up to their masterpiece “Somebody Up There Likes Me”, from 1988, and it’s just as good as its predecessor. An indie pop classic record.
